Leadership can be far too distant. Conversely, leadership can also be far too close. Effective leadership moderates closeness and distance.
For example, if I actively listen, then I create more closeness between management and employees. Conversely, if I say what my role is: “I am the head of department xy”, I create a little more distance. And what exactly is appropriate depends on the situation.
