Involved or distanced? Effective leadership is in between

Leadership can be far too distant. Conversely, leadership can also be far too close. Effective leadership moderates closeness and distance.
For example, if I actively listen, then I create more closeness between management and employees. Conversely, if I say what my role is: “I am the head of department xy”, I create a little more distance. And what exactly is appropriate depends on the situation. But effective leadership knows this and moderates closeness and distance correctly. These and many other tips are described in the leadership handbook.
